[rec.skydiving] What about LISTSERVS??

sellentu@isis.cs.du.edu (Scott J. Ellentuch) (05/13/91)

Hello all,

Its me once again. This time, however, I'm not talking directly
about the sport of skydiving, but this USENET newsgroup.

To explain a little about STORMKING.COM..... It is run from a IBM
RISC/6000 320 running AIX. We are a UUCP site getting a feed from PSI.
For this, we pay the paltry sum of $25 a month and $75 initiation. That
provides us with UUCP capability, and an INTERNET address. For $75 a
month, we could be provided the USENET feeds. HOWEVER, we would get them
ALL, not just the ones that we want.

While out on an assignment in Denver, CO I happened upon NYX, which
is a public Unix run by the U. of Denver Math department. They were nice
enough to allow me to have an account (And I give them all the credit
they deserve....See my ORG and DISCLAIMER). HOWEVER, I'll be returning
to Newburgh, NY in the next 2 weeks.

I found out that the REC.SCUBA people also allow the messages to be
sent and received via a BITNET LISTSERV. The list is called SCUBA-L. What
I was wondering was........Does anyone know if somewhere will sponsor
a list for US!!! I do have BITNET access via PSI, and could receive all
posts as plain mail. Does anyone know of a way that I can somehow get
the list forwarded to a mail account?? I subscribe to about 15 news groups
currently at U. Denver (rec.food.veg, comp.eff.org.talk, sci.virtual-world
and such) and would like to ATLEAST receive this one.

     Thoughts??? Comments??? Suggestions??? Death Threats???

(The only thing I can think of is to start my OWN on my machine, which
I'm VERY open to. We can make it SKYDIVE@STORMKING.COM and to join
send a message to JOIN-SKYDIVE@STORMKING.COM)

     What do you all think??
