Hello. A friend and I want to try parachuting, and wondered if anyone could inform us (me) about "first-timer" tips on parachuting, and about the parachuting establishment we are going to use for lessons, plane, and chutes. The place is located in Richmond, Kentucky, so I assume it is something of a small-time operation (although I have never seen their facilities). As far as I know, there are only two parachuting businesses in Kentucky. I was wondering if anyone had any information about this particular place. Obviously, my friend and I have never jumped. I was talking to a different friend yesterday, and he said that the Richmond place has a moderately high death-rate for jumpers. This is un-nerving! Is there any agency I could call to see how many people have died while using this company ?? Of course, the possibility exists that the "high death rate" is a local legend or something ....
