Yes, flirting is a dying art. Why? Because there aren't as many romantics around. Also, nowadays, if women flirt with men, they are often seen as a 'slut' or a 'bimbo'. And many women care about what other people think of them so they don't flirt as much as they might. If men flirt with women, they are sometimes seen as coming on too strong. So men who would have flirted openly before don't, because of they would probably want to become friends with women than driving them away by being offensive. These are generalizations. But they are also reasons why flirting is on the decline. It's just not safe to flirt anymore. I flirt, but only with my friends who know that I don't mean anything by it. Oh, by the way, I don't know whether homosexuals are flirting more or less now. They could be flirting more because it is not as taboo today to come out of the closet. But there is the AIDS scare where people in the US mistakenly believe that it is only a homosexual disease.
