[net.columbia] Candidates

neudeck@pur-ee.UUCP (Neudeck) (08/30/84)

I need to know what the positions of both Ronald
Reagan and Walter Mondale are concerning the space program.
I already have a general impression of what they might be, but
I need a policy statement of some kind with specific
information concerning the shuttle, interplanetary and
scientific missions, involvement of private industry,
support of NASA funding, and so on. I can't find anything
on Mondale's position, so if anyone out there has any idea,
please pass it on.

			Thanks in advance,

There is an article in this months DISCOVERY magazine that
discusses the candidates position on science programs.

Gary Hudson, one of the more notable names in private-launcher development,
talked about his current plans at the Worldcon last week. In response to
a question from the floor, he said (roughly) that the Reagan administration
has done an awful lot to cut red tape for private space ventures, and that
the Democrats have been unfriendly at best. You might want to consider
this when deciding who to vote for.
