I am looking for a program that efficiently replaces one or more object modules in a library (ar r) and revises the symbol table at the front (ranlib). I am using libraries that are large enough that the inefficiencies of ar/ranlib are intolerable, and before I write one myself, I want to know if anyone out there has done it already.
