Having flown a bit myself, I think the REAL reason so many pilots
sound like Chuck Yeager(sp?) is it's easier to understand
(slower & clearer) than 'normal' speach. Many people tend to
speek to fast into the mike and a drawl, besides being easy to
do, slows them down.
Several technical words have come to us this way such as Y'all,
one of the 3 major axis of aircraft. How about a contest for the
best word? ;-) 1st prize is one week in NJ, 2nd prize is 2 weeks....
