On Tuesday, October 23 space shuttle Discovery was rolled out to launch complex 39-A at Kennedy Space Center. The second flight of Discovery will begin November 7 as mission 51-A. The crew of five will deploy communication satellites Telesat H and Syncom IV-2 (Leasat 2). They will also retrieve satellites Palapa B-2 and Westar 6 which were both fired into incorrect orbits last February due to identical failures in their attached payload assist modules. Both have been lowered by ground controllers to an altitude of 190 nautical miles, where they can be reached by Discovery. The two satellites will be returned to Earth for analysis and then refurbished and sold by the insurance underwriters which now own them. -- Roger Noe ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe
