I want to thank both Greg from MIT and Dani Eder from Boeing Aerospace for their informative articles on Mass Drivers. I found it interesting that Greg was talking about a 1000g 7.8 km driver and Dani was interested in a 20 km 92g driver. I'm assuming the difference is because Greg want to throw raw materials, i.e. steel, silicon, water, into space where Dani wants to send essentially the final stage of a more traditional rocket vehicle into space. That brings up an interesting question that several people have asked. What is the max acceleration you would want a traditional rocket-liquid fuel-payload vehicle to experience? I would have thought 100g would be too high, but apparently that's not true. Anybody out there want to tackle that question? Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Fred Mendenhall
