We are gathering information about UNIX-based compute servers. One system
that appears to have a very good MIPS/$ ratio is the Data General AV4020 server
with dual 16MHZ 88100,s and 4 88200's.
Our specific requirements include good quality networking software including
tcp/ip, nfs and X11 windows. We have previously used BSD4.3 UNIX and we don't
want to give up the Berkeley enhancements.
I would appreciate hearing about your experiences with these computers.
Please e-mail to me directly since our usenet feed is now erratic.
Thanks,
John Benton
