----- Any of you Tek people still out there? I have a little problem. Where I work we have a Tek XD88/30. Damn fine box. We'd like to toss it into the network server role. Here's the problem: how do I get the ethernet port on the CP board (control processor?) in the second `tower' to wake up? All the hardware is there, but I can't puzzle out from the `ioln' man pages how to get it to work. The ether net on the I/O card works fine. Failing that, how else might one get a second ethernet on an XD88? Buy another IO processor board? N.B. - I'm running UTekV 3.2e Many thanks... -- ken seefried iii "A sneer, a snarl, a whip that ken@dali.gatech.edu stings...these are a few of my favorite things..."

"Any of you Tek people still out there?" Some of us are still out here. "how do I get the ethernet port on the CP board (control processor?) in the second `tower' to wake up?" You can't. The XD88/30 is really a computer and a graphics terminal glued together with a bus-speed communication channel. The computer can't get to the terminal's ports (those on the CP board), and the terminal can't use the computer's ports (those on the CE and IO boards). "Failing that, how else might one get a second ethernet on an XD88? Buy another IO processor board?" Yep. But I don't know if we released the software that would let the computer use more than on ethernet port. If you need to know, send me E-mail and I'll root around. -=- Andrew Klossner (uunet!tektronix!frip.WV.TEK!andrew) [UUCP] (andrew%frip.wv.tek.com@relay.cs.net) [ARPA]
