I have a NightHark and I'm having trouble compiling bash-1.05 (with history patches) and gcc-1.39. When using ls in bash, I get the following message from bash: [1]- Stopped (tty output)ls -C Any ideas on what the configuration file should be for bash? Also I can't compile gcc since I'm missing at least ASM_OUTPUT_REG_PUSH and ASM_OUTPUT_REG_POP in the tm-m88k.h file. Where should I go to get the correct configuration files. The final problem is that I can not get the set-mark-command to work with the emacs-18.55 that is shipped with the system. Both control-space and control-@ fail in emacs, but produce the ^@ at the csh prompt in either the ucb or the att universe. -- Jody Winston jody@shell.com ...!{sun,psuvax1,bcm,rice,decwrl,cs.utexas.edu}!shell!jody Shell Development Company, Bellaire Research Center P.O. There is a version of bash put out by the folks at CWRU (my contact there was chet@po.CWRU.Edu). They are doing most of the the POSIX port of BASH and if you can get a new version of CWRU bash, it may already have the right config stuff for CX/UX. Unfortunately, there was one problem I never resolved which seemed to be a bug in CX/UX (which should be fixed in one of the newer releases of the operating system, but I have not gotten a chance to verify the fix). This bug caused the jobcontrol stuff to essentially not work at all, I had to compile it with jobcontrol turned off (which means you are better off just using the ksh which ships with CX/UX - for some reason jobcontrol works in it, even though no one is sure how it manages to work). jody> Also I can't compile gcc since I'm missing at least jody> ASM_OUTPUT_REG_PUSH and ASM_OUTPUT_REG_POP in the tm-m88k.h file. jody> Where should I go to get the correct configuration files. Data General ships gcc as the standard C compiler on their systems and you can usually FTP the latest and greatest gcc and g++ ports from dg-rtp (128.222.1.2), but I don't know if they have ported the 1.39 version yet (the earlier version I picked up from them was able to build with just a couple of changes to the gcc driver to define all the right macros for CX/UX instead of DG/UX). Of course, the Harris compilers generate *much* better code than gcc, so I am not sure why you would want gcc :-). jody> The final problem is that I can not get the set-mark-command to work jody> with the emacs-18.55 that is shipped with the system. We are all heavy emacs users here, and I don't recall anyone ever having this problem (of course we all use X terminals, so it may be something specific to the tty interface). -- ====================================================================== domain: tahorsley@csd.harris.com USMail: Tom Horsley uucp: ...!uunet!hcx1!tahorsley 511 Kingbird Circle Delray Beach, FL 33444 +==== Censorship is the only form of Obscenity ======================+ | (Wait, I forgot government tobacco subsidies...) | +====================================================================+
