We are considering the purchase of some Motorola 88k quad boards (MVME188qp) for protocol research. We would be running UNIX and X on some and our own O/S on others. It has come down to the last few minutes before a purchase decision and what I am looking for is any last minute advice from people experienced in the use of these modules (or even the single or dual processor borads). Any general or specific advice on performance, quality of UNIX and other software implementations, compilers, reliability, things to watch out for, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Anything else you can think of would be equally welcome. Regards, Murray W. Goldberg (goldberg@cs.ubc.ca) ----- Murray W.
