A little bit of 'man'ing shows that DG sells: 6552 MOptical (5.25) that supports removables w/ 590 and 650 MByte capacities. and that sd(7) on the AViiON's (esp: 300 series) supports (?) ISO compliant 512 and 1024 byte sectored MO disks. Asuming DG second sources, Who do they second source from (not important in itself, but:) What is the base MO drive (Ricoh, Sony, ...?) Does DG use a modified controller board on the disk end? ie: Will sd(7) work with other MO drives? Whose? I'll collect any replies. Send mail if you want a copy, ... if enough people ask, I'll post a summary. Thanks, - mike (newton@gumby.cs.caltech.edu) ps: useful tip of the day: at least for academic sites, DG will upgrade the FrameMaker 1.3 (1.03) that many people got free to version 2.1 for $50 media costs. Manuals cost about $160 though... It is a nice upgrade, but dont even think of running it in less than 12 Meg, and 16 would be highly preferable.
