[comp.sys.m88k] Xengine performance

ssmith@merengue.mpr.ca (Shaun Smith) (06/19/91)

Thanks to everyone who emailed me.

Just to let everyone know, I made a typing error in my posting which led
to some confusion. The table of xengine performance figures I had
posted previously is included below, but notice that the version of
DG/UX that I am running is 4.32, NOT 4.2 (I missed a character).

One thing that came up repeatedly was the comment that 20MB is a
prefered amount of memory for a colour Aviion. A few commented that 20
performs much better than 16. Can someone explain why the 4MB is so
significant? On our other platforms, 16MB is quite adequate and offers
a significant improvement over only 8MB.

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks again to those who offered me
advice.

     Shaun
