The call to stations was announce on time at 0300 EST today
and with that began the countdown to the launch of STS-5,
scheduled for 0719 EST on Thursday.  The first piece of
business on the countdown agenda is the checking of the
Columbia's electrical systems.

Finally, at 1400 EST today, the countdown for the launch of
STS-6 got underway, and officials are hopeful to launch the
shuttle at 1330 EST on 4 April.  Landing is scheduled for
9 April at EAFB, and NASA said today that the landing of STS-7
will take place on the 15,000 concrete runway at KSC.

I will be away next week, so I won't be able to report on
the actual launch, mission, and landing.

On schedule, at 0300 EDT this morning, the countdown for the
launch of STS-7 began with the call to stations.  The 40 hour
countdown will have 12 hours and 33 minutes of hold time.

laucnh of STS-8 began.  Launch is still scheduled for 0215
EDT on 30 August.

The countdown for the launch of STS-9 began today, and launch
is scheduled for Monday morning.  However, a low pressure system
is headed towards KSC and may threaten the launch.

right on schedule at 0300 EST.

The countdown for Friday's launch of the shuttle Challenger began at
1 a.m. EDT Wednesday morning.  A backlog of paperwork from the short
interval since the previous launch temporarily threatened to delay the
launch but NASA appears confident that all can be cleared up in time.

The countdown began yesterday with the call to stations
in preparations for Monday's launch.  The Challenger,
which will be carrying Spacelab-3, is set to takeoff
around noon EST.
