"Recent Developments in Decision Support Systems"

Il Ciocco, International Hotel and Conference Center, Castelvecchio- Pascoli (Lucca),
Tuscany, Italy, June 16-28, 1991

The dynamic nature of the relatively young field of decision support systems necessitates
the frequent exchange of new ideas, technologies and applications. This NATO ASI
meeting will provide a forum for bringing participants up to date on the current state of
DSS ideas and practices. Because of the widespread impact decisions have in our
shrinking world, it is important to be aware of today's DSS possibilities for improving the
quality of decisions and the efficiency of decision making. With the continuing infiltration
of computers into so many aspects of life, this ASI will offer timely insight into their uses
for decision support. The overall motive is one of improving participants' appreciation of
what today's DSSs can do for them and to alert them to the promise held by tomorrow's
DSSs.

Presentations and panel discussions will be held on a full range of DSS
topics including:

DSS concepts and frameworks, DSS development tools and methods, model management
issues, artificial intelligence in DSSs, interface technology for DSSs, support of
multiparticipant decision makers, DSS evaluation issues, new DSS applications, and
emerging trends in decision support.
