We would like to implement an electronic information system for our University. It should be as simple as possible, that is just handle pages of information organized in an hierarchical way with 3 types of commands: introduce new page, correct existing page, read page. But, to be up to date, the user interface should be based on X11. Is such a thing existing already, or should we develop it ourselves?

I just recently heard of a program called 'boxer' that was developed at Berkeley many years ago that may somewhat be related to your topic. You might try and find out about it. (All I know is that things were treated as boxes and you could have boxes in boxes etc.) Just a fragile pointer, at least it may lend some concepts since it sounds like it was before X...) ..
