The Department of Information Systems at Monash University, Australia, comprises 25 academic staff who share and academic and professional interest in the planning, design and implemetantion of computer based information systems. The department is one of six within the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology. The department contributes to the Bachelor of Computing program on the Caulfield, Clayton and Frankston Campuses (All in Melbourne and its environs). At Caulfield a number of Garduate Diplomaa and higher degree programs are available. The Master of Computing by Coursework, administered by the department, has over 100 enrolled students. Research within the department has a strong applied orientation and is co-ordinated in three groups: Systems Analysis, with project including creativity and innovation in data modelling, system development environments and strategic planning evaluation. KBS/DSS/EIS, with current projects including experimental knowledge based system development, bias in decision making, desgin heauristics for KBS and the volatility of CSF's. Human Computer Interface, with current projects inclduing a lingusits workbench, support tools for AIDS research and evaluation of design education. We are currently revamping our working paper series distribution list.
