Yes, your way is the simplest, and it is the way I run my system  - since I  
boot DOS very rarely.  Some people, though, have wanted a "dual boot" option  
that would let them boot OS/2 from HPFS and DOS from FAT - both from a single 
hard drive.  It's not supposed to be possible to put two "primary DOS"  
partitions on a single disk, but it turns out that it is - as long as the  
first one is HPFS and the second one FAT.  That's what makes this new method  
possible.  

I'm not surprised to learn that several other echo participants have come upon  
this method independently - thanks for the confirmations.

been going a little bit too far...  I'm thinking of cutting the HPFS 
volume back to 200M or 250M and making D: bigger.
