SL> 1) too much to haul around That may be a legitimate complaint. The extra baggage doesn't bother me, but I don't have to pay an overseas phone call. SL> 2) This echo was just the right size to keep up with. The new traffic isn't a very large increase, in numbers of messages. I'm sure that FIDO has added a lot more traffic to usenet. Some FIDO echos (C and Binkley, for example) have 2 to 4 times the traffic that OS/2 has, even with the merger. SL> 3) A lot of the usenet material, so far, is much different content I disagree. The usenet messages have reflected many of the same interests that we've seen on FIDO all along, and the participants have shown a wide range of levels of expertise, just as we've had here. Over a short time, I think you will see any difference in focus between the two groups disappear. Certainly each of the two conferences has its own personality, and it will take a little while for that aspect of the merger to complete. In any event, this is not the time or place for voting. Dave Chatfield has requested that we wait until after February 28th, and then send our votes PRIVATELY. He will announce the voting mechanism at that time, and it will include votes from both sides of the gateway. -- Jim Gilliland - via FidoNet node 1:140/22 UUCP: alberta!dvinci!weyr!141!209.3!Jim.Gilliland Internet: Jim.Gilliland@p3.f209.n141.z1.FIDONET.ORG Standard Disclaimers Apply...
