[comp.os.os2] Need to find BBS's with OS/2 utilities / programs.

finn@mojo.UUCP (Finn Markmanrud) (02/09/90)

As a new OS/2 user, I am desperately seeking more "stuff" to run under OS/2,
preferrably even under Presentation Mgr.
If anyone can point me to a good source for such programs, please let me know.
I prefer to use my PC and modem to download from BBS's. I do not have the
ability to ftp stuff yet.

Thanks.

Here are some of the systems that have OS/2 programs. The University of
Saskatchewan Opus (mine) allows first time callers to download the files.
Some of the others may require "authentication" before people are allowed file
downloading privileges. These systems all talk 2400 baud and lower, and some
also handle 9600 baud. They will accept fidonet "File Requests" if you
have a "point kit" that generates those requests. (An OS/2 version of the
point kit is available from these systems, but it ain't that easy to set up
for a novice).

NAME NODE TELEPHONE Sysop baud Where
U of S Opus 1:140/43 (306) 966-4857 Kevin Lowey 2400 Saskatoon, SK
OHIOnet Express 1:157/512 (216) 241-6727 Dave Chatfield 2400 Cleveland, OH
Fernwood 1:141/209 (203) 483-0348 Emmitt Dove 9600 Branford CT.

The sysops can be reached via internet mail. For example, to reach my
BBS, you can send mail to "SYSOP@f43.n140.z1.fidonet.org" or
"Kevin.Lowey@F43.N140.Z1.Fidonet.Org". The sysops would be glad to provide
information on available files.

I'll also post much of my collection to Usenet once comp.binaries.os2 is
created.
