The problem is not really with OS/2, it lies with the AMI keyboard controller. About a month ago I upgraded my mother-board to a 386 with an AMI BIOS set. OS/2 1.2 was working fine on my old 286, the only change was the motherboard. Sure enough the system failed to boot and when I tried to reinstall OS/2 1.2 I experienced exactly the same symptoms as you described (article 1106). Strangely, V1.1EE installed fine but blew up when I tried to run PM. I could however get the command interpreter. To solve the problem I replaced the AMI keyboard controller with a generic 8042 (I think its for AWARD 286 BIOSs). OS/2 1.2 now works fine. I don't know why the problem came up in the first place. Maybe someone out in net land with in depth knowledge of OS/2 can give us an answer (Gord Letwin are you out there? P.S. loved your book Inside OS/2). In the mean time I can't recommend anyone buy a 386 system with the AMI BIOS dated Sept 1989. If you do, make your vendor change the keyboard controller. Ajai
