Sorry to waste bandwidth but.. What does it take to run a comm-program under OS/2 1.2 EE? I have tried two programs, namely Logicomm 2.20 (I think) and the Kermit that was posted to comp.binaries.os2 a few days ago. I can't get any of the programs to work, it's like the serial port is all dead, it's even impossible to give commands to my Hayes modem, it does not react at all. The strange thing is, if I boot my machine in DOS-mode and start Telix, everything works like a dream, no problems at all. So what could be wrong??? I have the following line (among others) in my config.sys DEVICE = C:\OS2\COM02.SYS Do i need anything else besides this. My configuration is: IBM 50Z with five megs, I have not installed the communications manager if that makes any difference. As you probably understand I'm new to OS/2. Jan-Olof Hendig

I am using 1.2 on an 386 AT-Bus machine and therefore use COM01.SYS. I do not use any other COM-related device drivers or software except that my serial mouse is on COM2. Are you shure that you specified the right com port and speed? Because C-kermit works on my machine it must be a problem of you hardware or software. Check if the 16550 chips are ok (with a serial mouse, for example). I don't know if the PS/2 machines require something about the ABIOS which is fond on the distribution disks? I have a similar problem with IBM EE 1.2. and HyperAccess 5.0 Ver 1.1. If I only use standard edition, I can use ports 2 and 3 on my Model 80-111. Or if I restrict the config.sys to only reference components that are referenced in standard edition, they will work. If I use the system definitions from TCP/IP or the SQL server stuff, ports 2 and 3 but not port 1 are claimed not to exist. Ports 2 and 3 use the IBM 2 port asynchronous board. Thanks for help.
