Hi netters, I am soon to be getting a 386 system and I was wanting to get some advice from all you os2 users out there as to the best kind of system to get. By this I am particulary talking about the peripherals on the system. I want to get the best out of os2, so I have to consider things like compatibility and availability of drivers etc. VIDEO: I would like to get a 1M 1200x800 (whatever the exact number is :) by 256 colour VGA card that has os2 drivers readily available. Which cards meet this requirement (I mean REALLY READILY available, not "you can send mail to supplier [who is in another country] to get the drivers sent to you in about 6 months" :) ? Also, which cards/drivers are best/fastest. HARD DISK: I would like to use a SCSI drive is possible, but I am worried about stories of problems with non-IBM-supported drive/controllers. I am told that this will no longer be a problem with the new SCSI cards that boot up automatically unlike the old ones that needed drivers etc. Any opinions on this ? It would also be nice if I could use a 40M MFM drive that I already own as well as the SCSI. I am told (by the same person) that it is possible to have both an MFM and a SCSI controller in the same machine without any problems. This was/is a problem with the old SCSI and with ESDI controllers/drives. Any suggestions on these or other points would be greatly appreciated. ant V ant "I killed Laura Palmer" \o/ ant@brolga.cc.uq.oz.au -O- Anthony Murdoch Prentice Centre /0\ Phone (07) 36 54078 University of Qld
