Say, is there a FAQ for this group? I haven't seen one, and I've been on a while... With all the debate and confusion over SCSI and OS/2 support, could someone help me on a related issue? I am trying to put together an OS/2 system out of an EISA 486, and am not clear on a couple of points... 1) is EISA going to conflict with OS/2? It shouldn't, but I'd better ask. Will EISA peripherals, with drivers, work OK? 2) what is the state of ESDI support under OS/2? I think I have heard that ESDI is a sufficiently stable standard that support is automatic, just like AT drives. Is this true? Can I use HPFS on an ESDI without special drivers? Can I use OS/2 without special drivers? The board would be an UltraStor ESDI caching controller, fairly common. If not under 1.3, then how 'bout 2.0? I would save myself the trouble and just buy big blue, but I am a student, and this is going to be a research tool, and I'm paying for it, and I need all the bang I can get for the buck, and I know my way around the inside of a PC case. (Is that sufficient apology?) I'd still like to give IBM my OS money, though! <grin>. -Thanks in advance for any help. Mail would be preferred, but I think a post is in order. I'll summarize results. ->dave David Giller ----- (rafetmad@oxy.edu) or (dgiller@oxy.edu) ------------ Box 134 1600 Campus Road "Some of us wake up -- others roll over."
