NASA today said that the Discovery was flight ready, following the replacement of the faulty backup computer that scrubbed yesterday's launch attempt. A new launch period was set, with the 54 minute window opening tomorrow (Tuesday) at 0655 EDT. Weather forecasts call for storms to be in the area, so NASA plans to count down to the T-9 minute mark and hold until a clearing occurs. New computer studies have extended the overall launch window through Thursday, so there will be two more opportunities to launch the shuttle and be able to revive the Syncom satellite if tomorrow's launch is postponed.
