The Discovery crew today deployed an Australian satellite
a day ahead of schedule to prevent it from broiling in the
sun. During a satellite health check, prottective foil
ripped away from the satellite exposing it to the sun, so
NASA decided to go ahead with the deployment, which, along
with the subsequent kick motor burn, was completely successful.
Afterwards, NASA was debating whether or not to continue
with another deployment today; it would be the first time
two satellites were deployed in one day by the shuttle.
