[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Hard disks for macintosh

bth@rhi.hi.is (Brynjolfur Thorisson) (10/20/89)

I am going to buy about 10 hard disks in macintosh SE's. My question
is : can someone give me information, or where to look for information, about
the quality of some of the hard disks on the market, like Seagate, microtech,
rodime and jasmine.
	Thanks in advance.

MacUser and MacWorld have tons of ads from hard disk manufacturers,
and often the battles for the lowest price are fought out there.
I have heard rumours about lubrication problems with Seagate hard
drives, but I cannot verify any of them. Around here, Quantum and
CDC drives are very well respected.

I would note that Ehman Engineering and Microtech offer five-year
warranties on their fixed drives and two years on their
removables, which is more than anyone else.
