I don't know how up-to-date the Killvirus init is, but if it's the one
I'm thinking of, it's been out for a while and is rather out-of-date.

For guarding against virus attacks, use either Vaccine 1.0 or (better)
GateKeeper 1.1.1. GateKeeper has more sophisticated protection (and
more online help than Vaccine.

Both GateKeeper and Vaccine are available via anonymous ftp from
sumex-aim.stanford.edu.

For detecting and eradicating infections, the only thing I would trust
with my disks is Disinfectant 1.2, by John Norstaad at Northwestern
University (Chicago). This program is excellent. It is fast,
effective, and easy to use. It has extensive online information about
known viruses. It also has a built-in check which will not allow
itself to run if it is infected (which is more important than it may
at first seem--think about it). Finally, it is safe to use for
eradicating infections, which is more than I'll say about any other
program I've used, especially ResEdit. (Disclaimer: there are quite a
few tools I haven't used. Not even I know what all of them are. :-)

Disinfectant is also available via anonymous ftp from sumex. Kudos
once again to author John Norstaad for providing a free, effective,
and easy-to-use tool for fighting viruses.
