[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Add-on Screens for the Plus

gall@yunexus.UUCP (Norm Gall) (10/20/89)

Hello.

Does anyone have experience with the e-machines Big Picture with the
Plus or the Samsung 15" FPD? My 9" screen is beginning to annoy me,
but I like my plus (and I haven't the cash to splash on a IIn yet)

Do you have a chance to look at both of them? The size of characters on
the E-Machines Big Picture is much smaller than your Plus screen. If you
use 10 point Times, it gets a little harder to read. Palatino is better
at 10 point. If you use larger sizes, there is no problem at all.

The display is crisp, though it does take a while in the morning as
someone else said. I had to have mine adjusted once to put most of the
crispness in the center of the screen, but it is still not too bad at the
edges.

I wish I could sell you the one I'm using on a Mac II and get one with
lower dpi (actually I'd like a SuperMac gray scale like I have at home).
But unfortunately, my employer doesn't share my tastes (and expense).

The screen does not have anti-glare coating, so overhead fluroscents are
a problem. You won't be able to get a filter for this size screen (at
least I've never seen one advertised). It's an odd size, between the big
19-inch screens and the standard one-page displays. But if these little
things don't bother you, the euphoria of going from that little Mac
screen to a larger one is fantastic.
