I've been thinking about buying a CPU cache card for my Mac II for a while. The MacSprint II card has been around the longest, and since it is known to handle the PMMU now, I was seriously considering buying one. Then, I saw an ad for Dove's new Racer cache card, and it was around $50 less than MacSprint. Is Racer PMMU-compatible? Also, the last time I asked (about MacSprint), the general concensus was that a few programs might break with it, but it would be rare. Would Racer be better, worse, or the same? Are either of these cards going to be trouble when System 7.0 comes out? Has Apple worked with these cards, or at least given Dove and Orchid advanced releases to assure compatibility? Also, I've seen an ad (from MacProducts, USA, I think) for a SCSI cache card for something like $200-300, but there's no other information. Is this a NuBus card? For what range of disk access speeds is it effective? How much software will it break? -- David Elliott dce@sony.com | ...!{uunet,mips}!sonyusa!dce (408)944-4073
