[comp.sys.mac.hardware] kfp stacking

leburg@mentor.cc.purdue.edu (Kim Leburg) (11/02/89)

I need some help and hope the people of netland can help.
We have a small MacIIx lab of about 10 here. We also have 5
Hp9000/360 Diskless workstations on thin Ethernet. The HPs use thin
and therefore we have to connect the MacIIs and the HPs though
the KFP-4 that we have for them. We want to get CAP and AUFS
running. We also have an IBM RT on thick ethernet running CAP
and AUFS. We have 6 localtalk networks connected to the RT. They
are connected to it by KFP-4s. The problem is connecting the two.

1 The workstations have static IP addresses and the MacIIs
have dynamic ones. The other net has all dynamic. Can we
just have the Mac-Hp net as a subnet of one of the
localtalk nets? (obviously through the localtalk side)

2 If we can do 1 then how are the KFPs setup? Is one a slave
unit that gets all addressing form the one on the thick
		Ethernet?

Any help, comments, guesses will help. This is not my regular
account. I do regularly read this so posting back is fine or e-mail
at the address below.

Thanks in advance
