[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Converting my ancient DataFrame 20

gt0818a@prism.gatech.EDU (Paul E. Robichaux) (11/02/89)

I have an old (October '86) vintage DataFrame 20 which has served me quite
well. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that it will die soon, since it's received
fairly heavy usage.

What I'd like to do is buy a larger drive (Seagate 296N, maybe) and use
the DF's case and PS to run it. Although I am reasonably competent with
things electronic, I haven't taken any time to really study the problem-
this just occured to me on my way to work this morning.

Has anyone done this? Are there any reasons why it wouldn't work? Is it
a better deal to sell my present drive and buy pieces to build a whole new
one?

Please reply directly to the net, as email here is *very* unreliable.

Thanks,
-Paul
