We have both a Mac SE/30 and a IIcx at my workplace. I have had the occasion to use both machines side-by-side and I'd swear that the SE/30 is substantially faster on disk read-writes. Informal benchmarks with a stop watch puts the SE/30 about 25% faster than the IIcx when it comes to file duplication and application start-up from the hard disk. Both machines are configured with 4 Mb RAM and an internal SCSI 80 Mb hard disk. I am puzzled because advertised specs suggest that the two machines should perform identically. I am also on the verge of purchasing one of the two systems for my own use and would therefore like confirmation of my observation. Any comments? patrick--romeo@lindy.Stanford.EDU
