[comp.sys.mac.hardware] SuperMac's SpeedCard

kmarko@hpdml93.HP.COM (Kurt Marko) (11/17/89)

Does anyone know what the SuperMac ``SpeedCard'' does? I've seen
it listed in the ComputerWare catalog and am wondering if it's a
RAM cache (a la Orchid's MacSprint) for the 68020 in a II. Does
anyone have any experience with these things? Is the elimination
of a memory wait state noticeable on a II?

Thanks in advance

The SuperMac SpeedCard is not what you think it is.

It's an accelerator card for a Mac SE. Depending on the SpeedCard
you buy, you will get either a 16 MHz 68000 or a 16MHz 68020.
Actually, I'm not sure... perhaps only the 16 MHz 68000.
