[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Anyone know what the problem with this SE might be?

fortmiller@hpscad.dec.com (Ed Fortmiller 17-Nov-1989 1307) (11/18/89)

Our MAC-SE just recently started misbehaving and am interested if anyone
else has seen this and might know what the problem is.

Sometimes the SE starts making a machine gun type like noise for maybe 10
seconds and then reboots itself. The screen gets a lot of lines at the
same time the noise starts. One time the noise started and it didn't reboot
and it had to have its switch poked to cause a reboot.

Another time got a System Error ID=10 (not the exact text).

Other times the SE just reboots.

Some times it goes for weeks without the problem and then at times you
can get several hits in a day.

Mac SE with 2.5mb, External 80meg Quantum, Radius FPD,
            System 6.0.4, Word 4.0

Got mail from someone suggesting that I post what software is being
used. System 6.0.4 running Word 4.0 under MF. Inits are GateKeeper 1.1.1
and SuperClock 3.6. However the problem happens sometimes when nothing
is being done at the keyboard. Will try removing the Inits tonight.
Since the occurrence between hits can be weeks or minutes it may be sometime
before one could say the Inits were causing the problem.
