Apologies if the following problem has been dealt with before in this newsgroup, however, I have only just started reading it and have therefore missed any previous discussions. The Problem ----------- We have recently purchased an Apple LaserWriter IINT for use in our department. We have a mix of machines (IBM ATs, Apricots, Ataris, as well as several Apple Macintosh computers) requiring connection to this printer and have, as a result, made use of the LaserWriter's RS232 port. We have, however, experienced some difficulty in getting our Apple Macintosh Plus machines to send output to the printer using the serial (telephone) port on the Macintosh. It has been suggested that there may be special cabling requirements for Macintosh computers on our system, however, we do not have a full pinout for the 9-way D-type adaptor lead which is used with the Macintosh's 8-pin Mini DIN. I would be grateful therefore if someone could email the pinout for this adaptor. I'm not all that familiar with Macintosh machines but I presume that no special software is required (other than a suitable LaserWriter driver) to make a non-AppleTalk serial connection between a Macintosh computer and an Apple LaserWriter and then to be able to send PostScript files down this line and have them print successfully. If this is not the case, I would be grateful for any recommendations as to software capable of handling this task. Many thanks. -- Gary Samson bitnet: gs%uk.ac.ukc@ac.uk Institute of Social and Applied Psychology janet : gs@ukc.ac.uk The University, Canterbury, Kent CT2 7LZ UK +44 227 764000 x3079
