I've got a 512kE Mac with a Dove MacSnap 548S Upgrade (SCSI, plus 2MB total RAM) which has a temperature dependent memory problem. For about the first hour after startup, memory is flakey. After that, it's rock solid (as verified by an (old) 1.0 version of the 1/2/4M Memory Diagnostic. I've suspected the MacSnap to digital board interconnect (socketed fingers which slip over DIPs on the digital board) and cleaned those connections. Not clear if it helped. I now power the machine on, let it warm up and run 1/2/4M until it passes OK before I do anything important. It would be very useful to isolate the errors to the 1 1/2 MB of MacSnap memory vs. the original 1/2 MB and, even more so, to a failing chip. Does anyone have a suitable memory disgnostic that's available over the net? 1/2/4M simply tells me "failing bits" in the range D0 through D15 (which move around). Mike Wirth PS: Yes, yes, I know my local Apple dealer should have the right diagnostic. But I have more time to chase the problem than he does, especially at his rates.
