[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Orchid MacSprint II and Virtual

siegel@endor.harvard.edu (Rich Siegel) (12/29/89)

Has anyone out there tried using the Orchid MacSprint II cache card in a
Mac II with PMMU and running Virtual? I tried to, and got some interesting
fireworks when I turned on the cache.

I asked Orchid about it, and they sent what they claimed was the latest
version of the MacSprint cdev, version 2.1. Well, they say 2.1, the disk
says 1.2, and the software says 1.0, and has a creation date of some time
in August 1988.

Is there a hardware or software upgrade to the MacSprint required to make it
work with a PMMU and Virtual, or am I fighting a losing battle?

Thanks in advance...

R.

YES! There was a hardware upgrade given out a while back to make the MacSprint
II board compatible with the PMMU chip....YES! There has been a s/w upgrade
(just recently sent out) to fix MacSprint II/32-Bit QD problems..
