I just received my new Prometheus 2400M modem w/transmit Fax. You know, the one that's been advertised in the back of MacWorld for the past 4 months or so. I ordered Oct 10, finally gave up hope that it would ever arrive, finally it does (jan 2), and, surprise, it doesn't work. Phone calls to tech support only get busy signals, leaving messages doesn't help. So... Here's my problem, does anyone know what I am doing wrong? It is shipped with the BackFax software and chooser level object called MailServe II. When trying to select MailSaver II under the chooser, an alert box pops up saying "Sorry, MailSaver II cannot be used". To the best of my knowledge, everthing else has been set up OK (ie, right serial, etc.). I'm using a MacIIci with MacOS 6.0.4. Secondly, does anyone else know how to work with Prometheus? I've got a return number from them, and have simply told the custumer service person that if no tech support call is forthcoming, then they get this modem back tomorrow. I'd rather keep the modem, but not if doesn't work for me.
