Having gotten some money for Christmas, I've decided to buy a hard disk for my Mac+. I'm looking for something in the range of 40 Mb, and the first place I looked for recommendations was here. However, no one ever posts anything about *good* drives; all I see are complaints, i.e., Jasmine never delivers, Quantum has PROM problems, etc. So, are there any drives out there worth buying? Post or email please, either to the address in the header or in the sig. below. /----------------------------\ /---------------------------------------\ | John Price | BITNET: price@uclaph | | 5-145 Knudsen Hall | Internet: price@uclaph.physics.ucla.edu | | UCLA Dept. of Physics | DECnet: uclapp::jprice | | Los Angeles, CA 90024-1547 | YellNet: 213-825-2259 | \----------------------------/ \---------------------------------------/

I bought a Quantum-based 80MB drive from them a year ago. When it died the first time after five months they replaced it within 48 hours. When it went a second time they gave me a 100MB Connor drive. (They've given up on Quantum for the time being.) I don't believe it would be right to hold them responsible for Quantum's quality problems and have nothing but praise for their tech support people. BTW, I bought my MicroNet through MacLand in Arizona, an example of everything a mail order operation should be. If you look back a bit further, note the postings about Connor Peripheral drives being used in the Mac Portable. They come in sizes from 40 meg up to more than 100 meg. If you are planning to roll your own, the net concensus seem to be to use the Connor drive.

I am using an Apple 80 MB. I have absolutely no complaints about it. The silence is welcome!
