After reading the article in MacWorld concerning upgrading you Mac I have a question: Is it possible to upgrade the Mac IIcx cost-effectively? Note that the Mac IIcx uses soldered-in chips and so I'm not sure how it is even possible to upgrade the thing. Most upgrades are a matter of popping out the CPU chip and plugging in a piggy-back board. I notice that DayStar says they have an upgrade product for the II cx but a technical person wasn't available when I called them on Friday. I need some information on the potential for upgrading the CPU on a Mac IIcx by Monday too! Does anyone know if 30-Mhz 030 upgrades on a Mac II cx are possible? If you don't need the slots then a II cx plus low-cost accelerator would seem to be superior to even a IIci. -- John T. The IIcx will probably never be as good as the IIci unless a ROM upgrade is offered for the IIcx. Note that the IIci's ROM has 32 bit Quickdraw and is fully 32bit clean -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pascal Gosselin | gosselin@clik.qc.ca | SIMCO, Inc. - A division of Computer Connection | uunet!clik.qc.ca!gosselin | -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
