I am posting this for a friend who does not have access to netnews, please
call him at the number below, or send me e-mail. Thanks.

==============================================================================

This person is trying to load system 6.0.2 on a 128K Mac that was upgraded to
a Plus back in 1987. He has an old Jasmine 20Mb (J20) external hard drive
(circa 1985) currently running System 3.2. Whenever he tries to copy the
system file onto his J20, it crashes during the copy. When he has tried to
use the installer scripts from the 6.0.2 system, he gets a crash. Whenever
he tries to boot up off a floppy and then perform a copy or install, the Mac
does not recognize the floppy drive first, instead it immediately goes to the
hard drive's system file and boots up from that. I have suggested he make sure
that he sets his SCSI ID to some number like 6, but he thinks that it is already
set to that number. In other words, none of the usual solutions seem to be
working.

He has tried calling Jasmine's tech support line for some time now, but for
whatever reasons they do not seem to answer their phone.

Do any of you out there have any suggestions to offer (aside from buying a new
drive, I've already suggested that).

Any help would be appreciated.

This person's name is Ray, and he can be reached at (201) 994-1610 after
6:00 p.m. EST.

Thanks.
