I am tring to build an interface between my HP-28 calculator and my Mac +. The calculator can send programs to a printer with an IR remote. I have a circuit that decodes the IR signal into a 5V square wave. What I would like to do is to have a program running on the mac that could decode the information based on how much time the signal is high and then the time that it goes low. This is done on a PC by attaching the signal to one bit of the parallel port and reading quickly. This can't be done on the mac because it only have serial ports. (I don't want to go to the trouble of building a device that communicates in serial) One possibilty is to use the mouse button as the input but that is not a good solution. Does anyone have any sugestions? Is there an easy way to time it if I can get the signal? around 430 uS per pulse. _______________________________________________________________________________ Wayne Scott | INTERNET: wscott@en.ecn.purdue.edu Electrical Engineering | BITNET: wscott%ea.ecn.purdue.edu@purccvm Purdue University | UUCP: {purdue, pur-ee}!en.ecn.purdue.edu!wscott
