[comp.sys.mac.hardware] AppleTalk throughput

yuan@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu (Yuan 'Hacker' Chang) (02/02/90)

Does AppleTalk offer any sort of packet collision detection/correction/
prevention? We have a 22 Mac LocalTalk (using TOPS) network split into
two zones (with a server for each zone) using the Liason software bridge.
We see a lot of spurious network activity even while nobody is actually
doing any work. We also see a lot of mysterious network activity that
would disconnect every computer on a zone for up to three minutes at a
time. Are we looking at problems with packet collisions or is this
something else?
