[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Looking for used MacII

markham@hoover.cs.unc.edu (Andrew Markham) (02/21/90)

I currently own an SE that I am selling to my roommate so that I can get
a 'big' mac before I go off to grad school. I realize this is backwards,
but I haven't been paying much attention to the net lately and was wondering
if anyone out there was interested in unloading a Mac II (or IIcx, IIx, etc.).

Sorry for adding this to the net mess, but I need to get this over with in
the next month or so.

Please direct all correspondence (including flames) to
		markham@wsmail.cs.unc.edu

Thank you,

I purchased my Mac II from Pre-Owned Electronics, 800 274 5343. They
assemble them from new Apple parts, the one problem being that the
case has no serial number (which, I understand, makes it ineligible
for AppleCare). Comes with a 90 day warranty. For the System unit,
1MB ram, 40MB hard drive and mouse I paid $2450. I've just called
them though and they say the price is now $2550. (You might try
and bargain with them, but don't tell them I sent you).

This is a strange day, I'm following up my own article. I was talking
with salesman who sold me my gear, saying I had a "friend" who wanted
to know how much the same system would cost for him. The salesman
said to please tell my "friend" to ask for Mark. I said I would if he
would give my "friend" a discount. He said he would try, but couldn't
promise anything. This must be bordering on some ethical misconduct
somewhere, but maybe it all balances out. I suggest you put these
guys to the test, ask for Mark and mention that he sold me a machine
for $2450. If he wants a customer sent his way he ought to pay for
it.
