"People for the American Way" is Norman Lear's anti-religious based censorship group. They are about as anti-religion as the ACLU and concentrate on opposing people like the Gabler's (sp?) in Texas who present massive attacks on textbooks for not quoting the Bible as a scientic source on evolution and the like. Actually some of their attitutes about race and civil war are scarier. I orginally join 'People for' ebcause I was concerned about the censorship which the Religious Right was advocating at the time. Even my pastor finds that reasonable. I am no longer a member/contributor becuase of the amount of my money which they spent trying to raise more money FROM ME but I support their ideals. If you have some solid evidence that People For is an anti-religious/anti-Semitic group please let me know and I will write Mr. Lear a very nasty letter.

In a previous article I put a copy of a local news paper article on the net about censorship in education, by a man that is the executive director of 'people for the American way'. I had heard of the group before but was unsure of where. I have done some research and found out that they are a part of the New Age Movement which wants to do away with all religions except theirs. In seems that they want to mainly do away with the Jews, and the Christians. It is stated in a book called 'The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow by Constance Cumbey' that Hitler was high up in this movement. It is also stated that Jim Jones was in the group and that he was to teach Christian socialism in preparation for the New Age.(this can be found in a book called The Aquarian Conspiracy). Before any of you flame or what ever, I would highly recommend that you read "The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow, by Constance Cumbey". Gee, funny thing, here I was thinking that it was founded by Norman Lear in opposition to some of Jerry Falwell et. al.'s flamings about how the media promote immorality. Silly me. > In seems that they want to mainly do away with the Jews, and the > Christians. Well, it was stated in a paper that was handed to my father in New York several years ago that James Audobon was one of the founders of Communism. If I had my copy of "None Dare Call It Conspiracy" I could dig up an even longer list of interesting things that were stated in that book. Most of us don't have time to read every book put out by every crank out there; frankly, I've yet to see a conspiracy theorist whose head wasn't filled up with cotton candy. However, I may try to dig up this book just for the fun of ripping its claims to shreds... Guy Harris {seismo,ihnp4,allegra}!rlgvax!guy

'The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow' by Constance Cumbey is recommended by Dave and I'll second that. I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it's amusing enough to make it worth digging it up somewhere. I witnessed an interesting interview with Ms Cumbey on television. She was caught in a number of preposterous falsehoods, including the claim that a certain cathedral (St John the Divine?) in New York was being equipped with lasers which, in cooperation with commsats, would make possible the 'projection' of holograms into all parts of the (I didn't catch why). On a more mundane level, Ms C was accused of making a large list of demonstrably false statements. In each case, her defense was either to deny making them (whereupon her accuser read aloud the statements from her own book or, in one case, played a recording of her making the statement ('Oh, I remember now!')), or to claim she had made a mistake there but everything ELSE was true, and anyway, her bad information was probably planted by a conspirator anyway. I saw the interview on, of all things, the Christian Broadcasting Network!
