After meandering through a zillion messages here and in comp.sys.mac about hard drive recommendations and being in the market for a new hard drive myself I get the distinct impression that a synopsis is required. Basically, I think most hard drives use the same few mechanisms with packaging/software dif- ferences. My overriding concern, however, is the $/Meg ratio. So in an effort to throughly research the market, could people please EMAIL me: 1) The name of their favorite hard drive company (i.e. where you bought yours) 2) The company's telephone # 3) Subjective satisfaction rating (scale of 1 to 10 with respect to SERVICE) I will try to call the major players and get current consumer and developer (if applicable) pricing from them and EMAIL them to other people or post a summary if there is enough interest.
