[comp.sys.mac.hardware] 68040 in a IIfx?, 4Mb SIMMS in IIfx?

Is the IIfx designed to be easily upgraded to a 68040? In the 80386 world
IBM has demonstrated 80486's running in 80386 machines. I imagine that
having the IIfx upgradeable would make it easy for Apple to stay at the
forefront of technology when the 68040's become mass produced.

What about third party SIMMS for the IIfx? Are the new SIMMS easy to
manufacture so that third parties will be selling them? What about 4Mb
SIMMS? Will they be available for the IIfx? I would want 16Mb in my
machine. It looks like memory for the IIfx could be quite expensive,
especially if one has to buy from Apple. Anyone have any idea how much
more expensive it is to make the 60 pin SIMMS than the 32 pin SIMMS?

Thanks,
Tony Cooper
