Concerning Apple's new 8.24 GC graphics board: 1) The spec sheet says that the card comes with 2MB on board and can be expanded with an additional 2 with a Apple Kit. or "Can be expanded to up to 8 Megabytes via third party SIMMS". Since I presum these are expected to be 4 MB SIMMS, then this is a TOTAL of 10MB rigth? (i.e. expanded BY up to 8MB). 2) What are the specs on these expansion SIMMS (speed, mode, pins)? 3) What are the constraints (same SIMM size, both SIMM sockets occupied if either is, etc.)? 4) The spec says it draws 20 watts. Please elaborate; how many amps on each of the MacIIs 3 supply voltages (i.e. how can I add these up if you just lump them together?). What memory configuration is this for (2MB, 4MB, 10MB?) 5) How is the monitor type automatically configured? Are there any 3rd party color displays that are larger than 640x480 (i.e. like 1150x870 19"ers) that are know to be configured correctly? As an aside, does anyone make a compatable color monitor in the 16 to 17 inch range (about 850x650)? This one (13") is toooo small, this one (19") is toooo big (or more acurately, too big & heavy). For use as a second monitor (with my TPD) 16"-17" seems just right. 6) One some news show I say a few seconds of a demo (a dripping faucet and an "animated" MacIIfx mother board), I assume these were part of the anouncement. Where they made on a MacIIfx, 8.24GC combination? If so can we get some details of what sw was used, how long did it take (design time and frame computation time) etc. I.E. they were pretty neat, I wonder just how feasable such things are on this new high end (for Apple) hw.
